Blog Instructions
PROOFREAD ALL OF YOUR WORK CAREFULLY...
A POST:
-Make sure you read the post questions before you begin your reading. This will give you a sense of what to look for and think about as you read.
-You must include the question and chapter number in the title of your answer.
-This is formal writing.
-You must include one quote from the text to support your ideas. Use about 3 to 5 lines. (Only include important/relevant lines. Use ellipsis.) Include context for the quote.
-Never use 1st person.
-Important: this is analysis, not summary. We are exploring what Harper Lee is doing as a writer. Use her name in the analysis. I do not want plot summary.
-Be careful with your language. Be concise and clear. This is key.
-At the bottom, always include 3 to 5 thought provoking questions to start the comments. Avoid yes/or questions.
-Read your work aloud. Carefully proofread.
A COMMENT:
-Less formal. You can use 1st person and share your own opinions.
-Answer one of the questions from the post, but then try to push the discussion in a different direction.
-You do not have to use a quote to support ideas.
-Ask more questions at the end of your comment.
-Read your work aloud. Carefully proofread.
GRADING:
Check+: The writing is polished, thoughtful, and fullfills all requirements.
Check: The ideas are okay. The writing lacks polish.
Check-: Weak effort. The writing is short and lacks polish.
Your overall grade for your blog work is about your daily effort. The writing must be polished and thoughtful.
I am happy to help with your ideas/writing at any time.
SKIP NIGHT:
You can skip one night a week on the blog. (NOT on your post night.)
